This guide walks you through every step needed to plug your OBD2 adapter into your vehicle and pair it with the app. OBD2 (On-Board Diagnostics 2) is the standard vehicle diagnostic system fitted to cars from 2004 onward; the adapter plugs into this system and streams engine, sensor and fault-code data to your phone. Connection Steps

    The OBD2 port is most often under the steering column, in the lower driver-side dashboard, within about 60 cm of the steering wheel. On some cars it can be behind the fuse cover, in the center console or behind the ashtray.     Push the adapter firmly into the 16‑pin OBD2 port until it seats fully. The connector is keyed to fit only one way, so do not force it. The indicator light on the adapter usually turns on once it has power. Make sure the adapter is seated securely, as a loose connection can cause intermittent drop‑outs.

    You do not need to start the engine; turn the ignition to the accessory (ACC) or on (ON) position. This powers the adapter and the vehicle data bus (the CAN/OBD network). Troubleshooting

No connection established

Make sure the ignition is on (ON) and the adapter is fully seated in the 16‑pin OBD2 socket. Unplug the adapter, wait a few seconds and re‑plug it, then try connecting again in the app. If it still will not connect, restarting the phone and confirming the adapter’s power light is lit resolves most transient issues. Very cheap clone adapters can cause protocol mismatches on some vehicles.

Adapter not found

Check that your phone’s Bluetooth (or Wi‑Fi for Wi‑Fi adapters) is on. If the adapter is connected to another phone, disconnect it there and refresh the scan.

Ignition in the off state

With the ignition off, most vehicles do not power the OBD2 port. Turn the ignition to the accessory (ACC) or on (ON) position and try again.

Incompatible or pre-OBD2 vehicle

Very old vehicles may not have a standard OBD2 port. OBD2 became mandatory in Europe (EOBD) for petrol cars from 2001 and diesels from 2004, and has been standard in the US since 1996. If your vehicle predates these dates it may not have a standard OBD2 socket and a connection may not be possible. Even where a port exists, some very old vehicles support only a limited set of protocols, so not all data may be readable; check compatibility.
